Colour changing lights and zigbee advantage

Why use zigbee

Zigbee mesh networks are an ideal choice for home automation for several reasons.
Firstly, Zigbee is a low-power, low-bandwidth wireless communication protocol that enables devices to communicate with each other directly over short distances. This makes it an ideal choice for smart home applications as it consumes very little power and can collectively transmit data over long distances, even in areas with weak network coverage.
Secondly, Zigbee mesh networks are self-healing and self-organizing, which means that they can automatically reroute data through alternative paths if there is an obstruction or failure in the network. This makes the network very reliable and resilient, ensuring that devices can communicate with each other even if one or more devices fail or are turned off.
Thirdly, Zigbee devices are interoperable, which means that devices from different manufacturers can communicate with each other seamlessly. This is important for home automation as it enables users to choose from a wide range of devices and manufacturers, ensuring that they can customize their home automation systems to suit their needs and preferences.
Fourthly, Zigbee devices are secure and use advanced encryption techniques to protect user data and prevent unauthorized access. This is important for home automation as it ensures that personal data and sensitive information are kept private and secure.
Finally, Zigbee is an open standard, which means that it is not owned by a single company and is freely available for use by anyone. This has led to a large and diverse ecosystem of devices and manufacturers, ensuring that users have access to a wide range of products and options for their home automation needs.
In conclusion, Zigbee mesh networks are the best choice for home automation due to their low power consumption, self-healing and self-organizing capabilities, interoperability, security, and open standard. These features make Zigbee a reliable, flexible, and secure option for building smart homes and automating various aspects of daily life.

Tri colour lights

Tricolour LED downlights are a type of lighting fixture with older technology that allows users to only switch between three distinct colours. These downlights typically come with integrated chips or bulbs that can emit warm white, cool white, and daylight tones. With the ability to toggle between different colour temperatures, tricolour LED downlights offer flexibility in creating the desired ambiance for any given space however tricolour does not have the range of colour. If you prefer a cozy, warm atmosphere or a bright, energetic environment, these downlights can cater to your preferences at the touch of a button but we no longer offer this type of light due the the limitations of colour choice.

WiFi vs Zigbee

WiFi and Zigbee are both required in a strong robust home automation network. WiFi is a high-bandwidth wireless communication protocol that does the heavy lifting, commonly used for connecting devices to the Internet that require higher data rates such as laptops, smartphones, smart TVs and cameras. It operates on the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency band, which allows for data rates of up to several gigabits per second.
In a typical WiFi setup, a router is used to create a wireless network that allows multiple devices to connect to the internet. However the reason WiFi is not the ideal smart home network is that each device can only communicate directly with the WiFi router like two people who must be looking at each other to communicate. Zigbee robust stable control Zigbee on the other hand also operates on the 2.4GHz frequency but creates a mesh network between all the zigbee devices in your home and that can be in the hundreds where the devices can all communicate with each other. For example in your home you may have 30 smart lights, another 25 smart power switches and some battery powered devices, say 3 thermometers, 5 door sensors and 6 motion sensors. If this was a WiFi smart home network then all of those devices would have to be in constant communication with your WiFi router hogging bandwidth that you want for running your TV, computer or mobile phone. However when you run all this on a Zigbee smart home network all of the powered lights and switches will communicate with each other and with the battery powered devices near them. This allows the Zigbee hub/gateway to act as the co-ordinator of the system as it manages security, insures that all devices are communicating with each other and the hub/gateway interacts with your WiFi router so you can pass communication to and from the internet. The huge advantage of this is that your smart home devices are working independently of your WiFi but can still be controlled through the internet via your WiFi router.
Overall, WiFi is an excellent choice for devices that require high data rates such as cameras, audio and visual systems, while Zigbee is the most robust for home automation and devices that require low-power and shorter-range communication like lights, switches, sensors and controllers.
